Rentals

Our rental bikes are a wonderful way to explore the area!

Located in Middlebury, Indiana, the heart of Amish country, Pumpkinvine Cyclery is situated across from the Pumpkinvine Nature trail, a paved rail-trail that runs through beautiful farmland. If you're hoping to stay near town and put fewer miles on your rental, we'd highly recommend checking out downtown's easy-to-bike-to businesses: Market at the Mill, 41 Degrees North, West on Warren Gallery & Grill and The Legendary Grind. We also suggest spending some time in these near-by parks: Krider Gardens, River Bend & East Park.

For a moderate ride, heading east towards Shipshewana is the most popular route (just 6.5 miles, one way). There you can shop, eat and enjoy the local culture--then ride back! While you're there be sure to check out some of our favorite, and easy to bike to, places: Jojo's Pretzels, Ole Tin Rooster & Cherry Pickers

If you're looking for more distance and adventure (a small part of this route is on-road) you can ride to Goshen, a town with unique food offerings (Venturi, Maple Indian, Kelly Jae's), breweries (Goshen Brewing Company), bars (Constant Spring, Common Spirits, Elephant Bar) and coffee (The Electric Brew, Embassy Coffee Co.). This town also has wonderful shopping: Flowers by Phoebe, Reverie, Found, and 10,000 Villages, just to name a few!

FAQ's

Q. Do we need to call ahead to reserve our bikes?

 A. It's a good idea. Although we have over 20 rental bikes, we do ask that groups of 5 or more call ahead for reservations and  availability. Some days are busier than others!

Q. Do you have road bikes or trikes available to rent?

 A. Currently we do not rent road bikes or trikes due to space restrictions, but we hear you, and are working on a solution! Available rental styles are pictured to the left.

Q. What should I bring with me?

 A. All bike rentals include a helmet and lock, and are equipped with cages that accept most water bottles. Water bottles are not provided so you may want to bring your own, but we do have water for purchase if you forget! A backpack or something to carry your personal belongings is also a good idea, as well as your cell phone, just in case!

Q. What time do I need to return my rental?

 A. Items rented at the "Half Day" or "Full Day" rates must be returned by close (see hours of operation), or you will simply be charged the "Long Day" rate.
