Bike Rentals

Explore 3 local towns by bike!

Located in Middlebury, Indiana, the heart of Amish country, Pumpkinvine Cyclery is situated across from the Pumpkinvine Nature trail, a paved rail-trail that runs through beautiful farmland. If you're hoping to stay near town and put fewer miles on your rental, we'd highly recommend checking out downtown's accessible-by-bike businesses: Wedgewood Brewing Co.,  West on Warren and The Legendary Grind. We also suggest spending some time in Krider Garden.

For a moderate ride, heading east towards Shipshewana is the most popular route (just 7 miles, one way). There you can shop, eat and enjoy the local culture--then ride back! While you're there be sure to check out the Davis Mercantile, loaded with cool shops and restaurants.

If you're looking for more distance and adventure you can ride to Goshen, a town with unique food offerings (Venturi, Maple Indian, South Side Soda Shop), breweries (Goshen Brewing Company), bars (Constant Spring, Common Spirits, Elephant Bar) and coffee (The Electric Brew, Embassy Coffee Co.). This town also has wonderful shopping downtown!

Bike Rental FAQs

Do we need to call ahead to reserve our bikes?

It's a good idea. Our rental fleet is smaller than in years past, so we do ask that groups of 4 or more call ahead for reservations and availability. Some days are busier than others!

Do you have road bikes or trikes available to rent?

Currently we do not rent road bikes or trikes due to space restrictions, but we hear you, and are working on a solution!

What should I bring with me?

All bike rentals include a helmet and lock, and are equipped with cages that accept most water bottles. Water bottles are not provided so you may want to bring your own, but we do have water for purchase if you forget! A backpack or something to carry your personal belongings is also a good idea as well as your cell phone, just in case!

What time do I need to return my rental?

Items rented at at Open Hour Return rates must be returned by close (see hours of operation), or you will simply be charged the "Full Day" rate.
