Arriving at gravel tire development with a fresh perspective, Silca took the characteristics of fast XC MTB tires and optimized them for modern gravel with ultra-fast road tire casing concepts.
Engineered for harsh courses and unpredictable terrain, the RCG-3 is built around a supple Pulsar casing and integrates an under-tread puncture breaker for superior impact resistance. Unlike conventional protective tires that feel heavy and sluggish, the RCG-3 architecture minimizes hysteretic losses to protect against flats while maintaining optimal rolling efficiency and traction.
The tread features tightly spaced, elongated center knobs that increase in size and height towards the edges to enhance buoyancy and the contact patch during cornering. This shape keeps the tire rolling smoothly on the rubber rather than squirming on the casing. The RCG-3 is tuned for slightly higher baseline inflation to prevent over-deflection, stabilize the contact patch, and enhance pinch-flat protection. Important: Never install tires with a tire lever.
